Indoor range is great! Kim and Brent are very friendly. Not intimidating at all for first time shooters.
I have been to Hawkeye more times than I can remember since they first opened. When I first started going I always enjoyed my experience: friendly staff and a nice facility. However, it seems to be going downhill each time I go. The staff is rude when I first walk in, they seem almost irritated that I am even there. One man in particular (no idea what his name is) always talks to me in a condescending tone and gives the impression that he has no desire to be there or help anyone. A lot of the time there is no range officer when I'm in there for some reason and I always end up having to sweep my own casings out of my lane with the floor sweep they have laying against the wall. I'm usually there after 5 so maybe I'm putting a burden on them for having a day job? With that said, there are a few employees and range officers that have made the experience very enjoyable! Also, the little pug they have running around is awesome.
My wife and I had a private shooting lesson with Chuck last week. He was an excellent instructor, bringing over 30 years of law enforcement training and experience to his class. I highly recommend Chuck and the team at Hawkeye Academy in Temple.
The range is pretty busy location is good for locals to use to hone their skills. Price is normal for the area.
Kim Martin, our basic gun safety instructor was excellent! She went out of her way to teach us how to properly handle and discharge a weapon; as well as all of the basics about aiming and shooting an array of handguns. Overall, the shop portion of the store had a nice selection of weapons for purchase and rent; and the actual range was clean and nicely designed. We will definitely be back!
