Walked in there today to get some info about prices and a walk through to see the facility. Staff behind front desk looked creepy and slimy. Also he looked pretty unhealty/anorexic. He would not give any info unless we filled out the "liability form" which included mandatory email, phone number, adress, if you had any kids, relationship status etc. All that just to be walked through ... Mind you the other 4 gyms we checked out today did not do this! After filling out the "liability form" the manager got called and gave us a semi professional tour. The Manager wasn't in shape either yet he was the complete opposite of the front desk staff. Very very big dude that should use his own gym more often! He did not know a lot about the equipment. The Gym itself did not seem clean at all. The equipment was ok but not overwhelming for the price they ask. I normally refuse to use hand sanitizer i wanted to use it badly after going there...
My main complaint is the website. If you want any info, just go into the gym and talk to someone. The website's never updated and you can't find any info on classes or anything.
Not sure where to begin... Golds coming up with an Express gym is the worst IDEA ever. I've moved to the area and was GOLDs member before coming down. Weighted area is small not enough free weight equipment. If there is 15 ppl using free weights you will be waiting. Way to much cardio equipment, so much that most of them are not even touched. I go to gym morning noon and night. This gym def needs a equipment placement re-org. This Express gym reminds me of a PF But smaller. I cant get out of my contract...stuck. on top of that I told them I wanted to be-able to use other gyms due to travel for work and personal. The rep mess that up. I don't feel the is express gym is worth 30.00 a month and 40.00 to 45.00 to use all other Gold's is crazy. No Pool or Basket Ball courts. Good thing its always clean.
The staff is always friendly. Every time I go, I see someone cleaning the gym and equipment. It can get busy during peak times, but it's easy enough to work out on something else until the equipment I want is available. The price is right and it's made it easy to get into a routine.
Machines can take months to service. Staff isn't all that great.
The gym serves my needs and it's very fairly priced in my opinion. Can the gym get a little crowded at times, yes, but that's easily avoided by going during non peak hours. The staff is great and have helped me with any membership issues or questions I've had. The weights are in good working order, the facility is clean and up kept. Overall it's a gym it serves it's intended purpose. Some people expect The River Oaks treatment while paying La Quinta prices, its a Gold's Gym Express not a full fledged Gold's so they wont have all the amenities.
